Casio’s Back to the Future Watch Is a Retro Time Machine for Your Wrist and Your Feels
Casio celebrates Back to the Future’s 40th anniversary with a limited-edition calculator watch inspired by the DeLorean and ‘80s nostalgia.

After unveiling the stunning Casio Oceanus “Calm Night” — a titanium beauty that captures moonlight with Edo Kiriko sapphire craftsmanship — Casio is taking a nostalgic detour back to the digital age that defined pop culture. If the Oceanus is all about quiet luxury, this next one is pure retro chaos in the best way possible. Meet the Casio CA-500WEBF, a special edition watch that celebrates Back to the Future’s 40th anniversary with a perfect mix of geek nostalgia and collector chic.
Created in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences (UP&E), the CA-500WEBF bridges two icons: Casio’s legendary calculator watch and the time-traveling DeLorean from the 1985 sci-fi classic. For fans of both film and design, it’s a wearable tribute that captures that quirky, futuristic optimism of the ‘80s — back when digital watches felt like mini computers on your wrist.
The CA-500WEBF retains the signature shape of Casio’s original calculator watch but gets a heavy dose of cinematic detail. The watch face channels the DeLorean’s taillights and “OUTATIME” license plate, while the colorful number keys glow like the movie’s time circuits. Flip it over, and you’ll find an engraved Flux Capacitor, the fictional power core that makes time travel possible, plus a Back to the Future logo etched into the buckle. Even the packaging joins the nostalgia trip — a VHS-style box complete with faux rental stickers. It’s delightfully old-school.

Beneath its retro shell, the CA-500WEBF stays functional and faithful to Casio’s roots. It packs an eight-digit calculator, stopwatch, daily alarm, calendar, and water resistance, all powered by a battery that can last up to five years. It’s a nod to an era when durability and simplicity were as important as digital flair.
The watch officially launches on October 21 — Back to the Future Day, naturally — priced at US$153 (~RM720) and available in limited quantities. While Casio hasn’t revealed how many will be made, that scarcity is bound to turn this model into a collector’s grail. For fans in Malaysia, the CA-500WEBF has already appeared on Casio Malaysia’s website, with local availability expected by early November.

Casio’s recent streak of creative releases — from the elegant Oceanus “Calm Night” to this cinematic collaboration — shows how the brand continues to straddle both luxury craftsmanship and pop nostalgia. It’s proof that Casio isn’t just making watches; it’s telling stories through time.
So whether you’re drawn to the moonlit serenity of the Oceanus or the time-traveling energy of Back to the Future, Casio seems to have mastered one thing — crafting watches you don’t just wear, but feel.
